Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has slammed her critics and reiterated she will vie for the Kirinyaga governor seat in the August 8, polls.
This comes after Karua faced criticism over her support for president Uhuru Kenyatta and what endorsement of the Jubilee party.
Scholar and lawyer Makau Mutua accused the politician of ‘abandoning’ the country when it needed her most.
Speaking during an interview on a local television station, Karua said she had a choice to support whoever she wants.
The former 2013 presidential candidate accused her critics of being two-faced as even they, she said, align to the most beneficial coalition for their political progresss.
“My move was deliberate and strategic. It was only my choice as well as my constitutional right,” Karua said.
Karua further said that she has no plans of dissolving her party but will instead using it to field candidates across platforms.
She fought of allegations that she was ever in the opposition coalition, saying she was merely a ‘friend of Cord’.
Karua will face off against incumbent governorJoseph Ndathi and former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru for Kirinyaga's top seat.
