Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa has said police in Mombasa have performed poorly in terms of handling nominations compared to their counterparts in other Coast counties.
According to The Star, Marwa wondered why Mombasa has recorded more chaotic nominations than the other counties in the region.
The regional coordinator further accused the police of being compromised by powerful politicians.“Why is it only in Mombasa? [Why] not in Kwale, Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Lamu or Tana River. Why only in Mombasa?” asked Marwa. He further warned that if the police don't manage the primaries now, they risk being overwhelmed during the general election in August.“Party primaries are a precursor to the general election. Fail now and you fail on August 8,” said Marwa.“If you can’t manage these nominations, you will not manage the elections,” added Marwa when he addressed journalists in his office on Tuesday.
