Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa has banned food donations to Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidates in Mombasa County.
In a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday, Marwa warned all organizations and individuals against donating food to students as a way of motivating them to perform better in their examinations.
He said each school is expected to prepare its own food, as it has been the norm in the past.
"No food from any well wisher is required in schools. Schools are expected to organise their own food," he said.
According to The Star, well-wishers had promised to donate food stuffs to seven schools in the county during the exam period.
The schools that were set to benefit from the donation include Star of the Sea, Husseina Academy, Serani, Mbaraki, Royal Junior, Presbyterian, Aga Khan and Mombasa Primary School.
The Sharrif Nassir Foundation had offered to distribute yoghurt and water to the schools before the ban.
