A Mombasa High Court has barred Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa from issuing slanderous statement about Mombasa businessman Aharubi Khatri, reports the Star.
Judge Mugure issued the order on Wednesday pending a court hearing on a case in which he accused Marwa of issuing defamatory statements about him.
Marwa, a fierce defender of Jubilee administration will not be required to speak about Khatri's arrest either directly or indirectly in a period of 14 days.
Khatri, a close associate of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, was arrested on grounds that he's involved in drugs trade and illegal possession of weapons.
His arrest has been associated with the recent detention of Joho and Mvita MP Abswamad Nassir at Mombasa CID headquarters.
"Note that this demand is personal and not in your capacity as Regional Coordinator. Such acts of defamation are not withing your legal mandate," read part of Khatri's affidavit.
The businessman adds that any remarks from the coordinator may interfere with police investigations.
Joho, who has been at loggerheads with the national government, dismissed officers who had been reinstated to guard his official house in Mombasa.
