Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa on Saturday hailed Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki and Likoni MP Mishi Mboko for spearheading the fight against criminal gangs in the region. Addressing journalists at Uhuru na Kazi building, Marwa said that the duo and other leaders have played an immense role in the effort to secure the area from criminal activities. This is the first time the fiery coordinator has heaped praises on Mboko, a fierce critic of the Jubilee regime."I want to thank the County Commissioner Mr Achoki and his team, especially the MP for Likoni Mhemishiwa Mishi for standing up to fight crime there. It has worked,” said Marwa, as quoted by The Star. The regional coordinator also revealed that at least 10 criminal gangs have been terrorizing residents in Likoni in the recent past. He cited the Watalia, Wajukuu wa Bibi, Kapenguria Six and Young Thugs among other gangs said to be operating in the area.Marwa also told journalists that at least 30 youths from different criminal gangs have surrendered to police in the past few days after the officers were given a shoot to kill order. He assured the youth who have surrendered that they will not be punished.Marwa at the same time launched a scathing attack on former Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba, saying that there was an upsurge of crime during his tenure following the mushrooming of the Wakali Kwanza and Wakali Wao gangs.Bezimba has in the past denied having links to the gangs. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
