Marwa's statement comes at a time when the Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart have been embroiled in a tug of war with the government over the withdrawal of their security detail.

The outspoken coordinator said they have launched a crackdown on illegal firearms across the county.

He termed Nyali constituency as being notorious in the vice, adding that illegal ownership of the weapons has contributed to runaway insecurity in the region.

On the issue of the drug abuse, Marwa said security officers are doing their best to curb the menace, reiterating that notorious drug lords in the region will soon be brought to book.

In regards to the increasing number of criminal groups in the county, the regional coordinator warned youth engaging in crime that their days are numbered.

He said the government cannot afford to entertain such illegal groupings which have become a security nightmare in the county.
