Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa has said Operation Linda Boni by the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) has not borne the expected fruits.Speaking at Mahrus Hotel on Sunday, Marwa said the recent attacks by suspected al-Shabaab militia in Lamu and other parts of the nation are an indication that a lot more needs to be done by the security officers. The operation was launched on September 15, 2015 with the aim of flashing out the militants who are said to use the forest as their hide out."We have the Operation Linda Boni in place. It is now almost two years and the way things are, it’s like we haven’t achieved the objective of flushing out criminals inside the forest,” said Marwa, as quoted by the Nation.Marwa, who is known for his firm stand on matters security, said there is need for security officers to make some changes in order to flush out the militia from the forest."We need to see changes in as far as the security of this county is concerned or else we replace you guys," said Marwa. The coordinator called for investigations on all officers involved in the operation to determine why the operation has not been successful despite the nation having spent resources on the same.He further asked Joseph Kanyiri, the operations director, to ensure that the security personnel deliver on their mandate.
