Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa and National Land Commission (NLC) Chairman Mohammad Swazuri will be required to appear before The National Assembly Committee on Lands to explain how over 400 families were evicted from a piece of land in Changamwe in 2015.Addressing residents at the controversial land in Dunga Unuse, Changamwe on Friday, the committee’s vice chairman Moses Ole Sakuda said the two officials must explain the criteria that was used to evict the families.“We are going to call these people and sit down with them so that we get to know the criteria that were used to eject these people,” said Sakuda. He further said that the MPs will question former Police Division Commander and the owner of Westlands Properties Limited, which is also said to have been involved in the evictions.“If you are here and you are working with Westlands Company, then your days are over because we cannot allow you to oppress Kenyans who have a right to settlement,” added Sakuda, as quoted by nation.co.ke.Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi who is also a member of the committee said that the company is not dully registered and the name is being used fraudulently.
