Nelson Marwa, the Coast regional coordinator has put road contractors in the region on notice. He accused many of them of doing shoddy jobs, saying Kenyans must get value for their money.
"It's one thing to get a contract and another to complete this projects within the timelines. We don't know what is happening with this contractor of Garsen-Lamu, Witu-Lamu. He is playing some funny business there. He has been given enough security. What's his problem? He keeps on changing goal posts," said Marwa. The regional police boss also put on the spot the contractor working on Samburu-Kinano road, saying he had only done 3 km tarmac since the work started."He is behind schedule. That of Garsen is totally behind schedule," warned Marwa.
He as well did not spare contractors who were awarded contracts by the county governments, saying they should not do shoddy jobs just because governors will not have time to inspect.
"If you'll pocket the money and write a fictitious report that you have done a good job, we'll deal with you," he added.
Marwa addressed the press in Mombasa on Friday.
