Masaba North Boda Boda Sacco with a total membership of 500 will be launched on Thursday at Gesima market, chairperson Job Manani has revealed.
The Sacco constitutes membership from Gesima, Gachuba and Rigoma wards and becomes the fourth to be launched after Manga, Nyamira North and Nyamira South sub counties launched their respective Saccos.
Speaking to the reporter on Wednesday, Manani said the Sacco will empower youths venturing into the business by providing them with easy landing services for their sustainability.
“We will launch our Sacco on Thursday and I am happy to say we have the largest membership than any other sub county. This is the way to make youths joining the industry self-reliant in these difficult economic times,” he said.
“The Sacco will provide cheap lending services so that our youths acquire them easily. This will also reduce crime rates because many jobless youths are reportedly joining crimes,” he added.
Nyamira Women Representative Alice Chae who is expected to grace the event urged youths to form more groups that could receive support from Affirmative Action Social Development fund.
“I am happy that our youths are opening their eyes. We don’t have to believe in white collar jobs always. I encourage formation of more groups so that we can easily aid them from AASDF which my office is giving to various marginalized groups,” she said on a phone interview.
