Kenya National Union of Teachers, Masaba North branch members have a reason to smile after the branch managed to secure a 3.4 million shillings bus.

Speaking at Nyaronge primary school on Sunday during the official launching of the 52 sitter bus, branch Secretary General Mr. John Oteki said the move was crucial for better service delivery to all members of the teachers’ largest trade union.

He said the bus will be used to navigate to every school in the region to ensure that all concerns of members were heard in advance besides being used for official ceremonies pertaining members such as funeral and wedding ceremonies.

“This is a great milestone for us as a union in this area. Reaching our members to get their concerns in an n expeditious manner has been quite cumbersome before but from now henceforth all will be fine,” he said.

“I want to reiterate that the bus will also be used for funereal and wedding ceremonies to the members of the union and their families and may also be hired and the finances taken to the official kitty for other functions,” he said.

Mr. Oteki urged teachers from the region who are not members of KNUT to join besides asking members to vote wisely in the branch elections scheduled late June.

“The branch is even becoming stronger and I want to invite more teachers to join. We want to also wish teachers all the bet as they elect new officials but it’s fundamental that they make viable choices,” he said.
