Masalani residents have vowed to support aspirant Sofia Noor Abdi  as their MP in the incoming August elections, while at the same time re-electing President Kenyatta and his deputy as their preferred candidates for the residency. The Jubilant supporters grabbed the woman aspirant shoulder-high from the airport carrying her to Masalani town. Ms Sofia, who is also campaigning for the re-election of Jubilee government on her People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket disclosed that President Kenyatta had done much, and thus needed re-election to finalize all the projects that he has initiated on his first term. While delivering her address, the female aspirant lamented that the forgotten Ijara Sub County is a potentially thriving region but due to poor and inefficient leadership had failed to record any notable developments in the present county leadership. She, however, pledged to work with several other development partners in ensuring that economic mainstay of the area is achieved, while uplifting living standards of the Garissa electorate. She added that vital projects as education, public health, infrastructural development and agriculture would be her areas of interest.Additionally, Noor lauded the national government for swiftly responding to the ongoing drought situation in the drier  Ijara constituency by delivering relief food. She also urged the residents not to rely on relief food, since doing so would render them forever poor.
