Maseno East Anglican Church (ACK) has elected Arnold Owiti Joshua as the first bishop for the diocese.
Speaking on Saturday after his election, Bishop Owiti called on his competitors to build the church.
He said everybody has a critical role in the ministry and success of the new diocese asking them to emulate teachings of the body of Christ.
“We should remain united as we all have to take part in the building of the church. Let’s join hands as we embark on evangelism and investment for the diocese,” said Mr Owiti.
Mr Owiti who has been serving as the dean of cathedrals in Kisumu was among the three contestants who sailed through the vetting process.
The voting requires that one gunners two thirds majority in the first voting a threshold Owiti obtained.
Bishops Joseph Kariuki, Julius Wanyoike, Julius Karani (Murang’a South) and Rev John Miano Mwangi (Mt Kenya Central) oversaw the peaceful election in Ahero.
