The family, comprising of a father, mother and two children denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Philip Oilo.

Stephen Ocholla (father), Rosemary Achieng (mother) and the two sons Philemon Ogolla (23) and Paul Ogot (26) were arrested on Sunday at their Maseno home while allegedly selling illicit liquor.

During the arrest, police confiscated equipment used for brewing and more than 200litres of the illicit brew.

According to the prosecution this is not the first time the father has been in court. He has been arrested three times before but only released on bail.

The prosecution requested the accused be denied bail but the court declined on grounds that the prosecution did not have a concrete reason to have the family remanded.

They were released on a cash bail of Sh5, 000 each with surety of a similar amount pending the hearing of the case on the 25th of this month.
