Four people were on Thursday arraigned before court in Maseno to face charges of selling illicit liquor and engaging in business without a permit.
The four Dedan Omondi, Paul Okilo, James Onwae and Aggrey Ripodi denied the charges before Maseno Resident Magistrate Philip Oilo.
The four were arrested on Tuesday following a crackdown on illicit brewers in Maseno.
During the arrest 10,000 litres of illicit brew was destroyed.
According to the prosecution, the four are perennial illicit liquor brewers and that they have been arrested on several occasions but managed to get out on bond.
The prosecution requested that the accused persons be remanded in the course of the trial so that they don't engage in such kind of business again.
However, Mr Oilo declined the request, saying that even the accused persons have rights to bail which the court should uphold.
"Despite the circumstances, the accused persons have a right to bail if they successfully apply for it. As a court we cannot deny any party something that is rightfully theirs, " said Oilo.
The four were released on a cash bail of Sh20,000 each, but warned against engaging in illicit liqour brewing and selling while the case is ongoing.
"I order the accused persons not to engage in the business again, as the terms of the bail given to them. Violation of the terms will lead to remanding them until the case is over," said Oilo.
