Nyanza region is in shock after its academic giants were floored in the 2017 KCSE released by Education CS Fred Matiang’i. Maseno School and Maranda High School recorded unsatisfactory results prompting teachers to shun media coverage.

Maseno School had 0 As as opposed to last year’s 137. The institution managed 125 A- and 19 B+ last year but this year the giant has fallen.

According to the Standard, efforts to reach the school principal Paul Otula were unsuccessful and was said to be in the capital. A teacher who sought anonymity told the local daily that they were still analyzing results.

“We are yet to start analysing the results. We will give more details later,” said the teacher.

Another great school Maranda had 2 As compared to 2016 when they had 68. The Principal, Boaz Owino also snubbed media coverage.

However, Kisii High School tried its best and produced 6 As. This is the school where Chief Justice David Maraga sat for his Kenya Advanced Certificate of Secondary School.
