Speaking from his office today at Maseno, Ingasia revealed that the earlier assigned contractor had failed to show up for the task for unexplained reasons and promised the people to give the county government time as they give the contract to a different contractor.

"It's unfortunate the contractor didn't show up, and we call for patience as the market lighting project contract is set for a different contractor since the previous one failed to show up for untold reasons,” said Ingasia.

Business people at the market had raised concerns over holes dug by the contractor and left open in early November and filled them over fears of injuries to customers in the poorly lit market that serves a large number of people majority being Maseno University students.

The administrator has given an assurance of the county administration's awareness of the need to light up the market just as other marketplaces have been lit by operational Mulika Mwizi floodlights and solar lights sighting Luanda market as an example of a nearby market.

"The county administration is aware of this issue and we value the need for extension of business hours given the growing number of customers served at the market and their safety equally concerns us," assured Ingasia.

This comes amid calls for extension of the market, lying on the Kisumu and Vihiga County boundary and crucial contributor to the counties' revenue as a host to Maseno University which has seen it grow drastically over the years.
