Maseno School Old Boys Association have lost a bid to challenge a verdict by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to suspend the institution's principal Paul Otuola.

Through lawyer James Aggrey Mwamu, they asked the Kisumu Industrial and Labour Relations Court to reinstate the principal, saying TSC did not follow the right procedure to suspend him.

“There are allegations against the principal but the appointment of a headmaster from Homa Bay in 30 days without allowing the deputy to act sounds a little bit queer to the old boys,” said the lawyer.

“In a big school such as Maseno, it is important that transition is managed properly in order not to spoil the standards which have been maintained there for the last 15 years? he added.

But Justice Maureen Onyango threw the application out, after the lawyers representing the Association were unable to prove their case.

The judge also directed the lawyers to serve TSC with the application as it had only been served to the Attorney General.

The disciplinary action towards the principal follows allegations that he may have failed to stop sexual molestation and bullying in one of the country’s best-performing national secondary schools.

The case will be heard, Thursday.
