Maseno School and St. Anthony Boys High School Kitale have for quite some time now dominated the sporting arena in the country though with different specialties as Maseno have been the most successful side in Rugby while St. Anthony have dominated football and Hockey for the past 16 years.
But what does their infrastructure say about them?
Dormitories
Maseno School has thirteen dormitories with the capacity to accommodate at least 2,000 students while St. Anthony has six dormitories with a cumulative capacity of about 1,400 students. At St. Anthony, the biggest dormitory is Pope Francis with a capacity of about 230 while the smallest is Jamhuri that cannot accommodate in excess of 130 individuals. At Maseno School, the biggest dormitory is The Space Premier Accommodation with a capacity of in excess of 500 students while the smallest is Mayor 1 that can accommodate about 70 students.
Classes
St. Anthony added six modern structures to be used as classes to accommodate all students as each class has four streams from form one to form four. They are still expanding under the new management having been transformed under the stewardship of Cosmas Nabongolo who was sadly transferred. Maseno School also has the same arrangement with four-stream classes but with state-of-the-art structures that have aided their learning as in producing a conducive environment to do so.
Administration block
The Kitale-based St. Anthony has a modern storied administration block that is capable of having the entire department located under its roof. The administration block is enhanced with modern facilities and provisions that have meant a free flow of services and also that students are attended to well. Maseno School has one of the very best administration block as well in the country that is strategically located to ensure amazing service delivery to student, visitors, and parents. It has aided effective management.
Canteen
St. Anthony has one canteen which is capable of serving 1,000 individuals in half an hour. The canteen is equipped with the best necessities to aid the students’ day to day lives. Maseno School comes out here with three school canteens that can serve more than 3,000 individuals. The canteens have been helpful when it comes to servicing like during games when the school has too many visitors.
Playgrounds
Maseno School comes out top in this again with playgrounds that can be used for literary any known sport including the recent addition of cricket whose turf is good and acceptable even for international games. Maseno school has 13 different pitches that can be used for a variety of sporting activities. Due to a limitation in available land, St. Anthony has six playgrounds that can also be used for a variety of sporting activities and has been a pre-cursor to their sporting success.
Health facility
St. Anthony has a sanatorium that can handle 50 students in a day with a highly qualified medic. This has helped ease the health complications as their location is also just 300 meters away from the Kitale District Hospital. Maseno has a modern health facility as well with improved features and an ability to handle more students for healthcare purposes.
Dining hall
Maseno School has a modern dining hall with a capacity of handling two thousand individuals at a go and with amazing service delivery. St. Anthony’s dining hall is smaller and with a capacity to serve just about 600 hundred students in an hour.
Assembly ground
St. Anthony’s assembly ground is perhaps the best and most mesmerizing piece of art in the whole country. It is structured to ensure that all students get to see the speaker and the speaker gets to see the student at the furthest end of the parade. Maseno School comes out second here with an assembly ground that is no match to what St. Anthony has. Maseno School’s assembly ground is a normal level ground with demarcations to allow for the standing of the students according to class.
Laboratories
Maseno School has modern laboratories capable of handling different types of experiments and studies with modern equipment. St. Anthony comes out second in this with less developed laboratories that allow for basic learning and skill acquisition.
