There was drama at Maseno University on Sunday night after a student in the Institution beat up his girlfriend for comparing him to Arsenal.
Allan Murwai, a fourth-year student pursuing Agricultural Economics in the institution allegedly beat up his girlfriend Faith Njoki after she told him that he was a loser just like his team.
The incident happened at around 9:00 pm at Jojo hostels just a few minutes after Arsenal suffered a humiliating defeat against Manchester City.
Speaking to a Hivisasa writer, the neighbors confirmed that they indeed found Murwai beating up Njoki.
"We heard noise coming from their house a few minutes after the Arsenal game. We were curious and when we intervened we found him beating up his girlfriend before we stopped him.
"When we asked the lady what was the source of conflict she said his boyfriend started beating him up because she had told him he was a loser just like his Arsenal club," one of the neighbors narrated.
The issue was reported to the administration under the internal security department.
Speaking to a Hivisasa writer, John Okello who is the Chief Security Officer of Maseno University explained that this was not the first case of student conflict adding that it will be dealt with accordingly.
"Cases of couples picking up conflicts are common in the Institution. Our students are young and still learning on how to sort out issues on their own.
"It is so unfortunate, we as an institution condemn it with the loudest voice ever. We are going to handle the case as per the University rules and regulations," he said.
