Maseno University students on Thursday urged the administration to beef up security around the university periphery.
Through the institution's outgoing Secretary-General Linus Sang, the students complained of increased cases of robbery which makes the university unsafe.
Several students have reported robbery incidents to the administration, but nothing much has be done to prevent a repeat of such cases.
It has been noted that students who reside outside the school are the most affected with the the poor state of security in Maseno.
On Wednesday night, a group of around 10 men allegedly attacked a student and made away with several of his belongings
The Wednesday night incident happened just a day after three students were attacked, and injured on Monday night in Mabungo area.
“We are deeply concerned with the continued series of insecurity incidences at the university. We request the administration to look into the matter to ensure all students are safe,” said Sang through the institution's social media platform.
A group of armed robbers commonly referred to as ‘Wanyore’ have occasionally raided and terrorized students at their hostels.
