Those affected had reported to the lakeside institution on August 20, and had expected to stay at the man's house untill the end of the semester.

Each one, they claimed had paid Sh26,000 before the unidentified man vanished.

Before paying the cash, the runaway man had promised to offer them good accommodation in one of his residential houses in Maseno town.

They however, lived never to see the rooms.

The landlord is said to be a KDF soldier and no one knows the barracks he is attached to.

Efforts to reach the man were futile as a cellphone number availed as his went unanswered.

Accommodation is one of the challenges affecting the students of Maseno.

Students have been facing a hostel crisis at the campus especially with the admission of the first year students.

This leaves many of them at the hands of unscrupulous businessmen who take advantage of their innocence to con them.

The affected students have reported the matter to the university but a solution is yet to be found.
