Maseno University students have been warned by the management against cheating in their end of Semester Exams that commenced on Monday.
Speaking to our reporter during the commencement of the examinations, David Onuong'a, a lecturer at the Media department said that the management has put down strict measures to ensure students found cheating face the necessary disciplinary actions.
Onuong'a also cited the use of fake examination cards by students and how the Varsity is prepared for students found with fake exam cards.
From the students' handbook, students are forbidden from any examination malpractices including having mobile phones in the exam rooms and writing the famous 'Mwakenya' in executing the ills.
Meanwhile, a third-year male student was found cheating in the exams and was immediately forwarded to the head of department for action.
The student was found with 'Mwakenya' (a written piece of paper from which to refer) which he had hid in his shirt pocket immediately after the exam papers were distributed.
Onuong’a went on to say cheating has affected students a lot in different areas including their work places, adding that it is the reason why we have half-baked students who are released to the job market.
“Cheating is the reason why Kenyan universities are being blamed for half-baking graduates', said Onuong'a, further adding that students who cheat in the exams go into the field without the proper knowledge of whatever they are supposed to have learnt.
