Staff and students of Maseno University have been urged to provide information that will help establish the cause of the fire that recently gutted the university administration block.

In a notice published on the university's official website, the university's Ad Hoc Committee Chairman Prof Phillip Aduma said anyone with crucial information that will unearth the cause of the fire should volunteer to aid investigations into the incident.

“This is a special appeal to all staff and students of Maseno University to volunteer information that can help the ongoing investigations, by an Ad Hoc Committee, following the incidences of fire on October 7 and 8, 2015 and closure of the University’s Main Campus on October 13, 2015," the notice published on October 27 and signed by Prof Aduma read in part.

It said volunteering information to aid the conclusion of investigation will help end speculation about the cause of the tragedy that gutted several offices belonging to senior university staff.

The university was closed down on October 13 to facilitate investigations into the fire tragedy that occurred on October 7 early morning.

Police led by Kisumu County Police Commander Nelson Njiri promised to unearth the cause of the fire.
