Maseno University students began their end of semester examinations on Monday morning marking the end of one of the shortest semester in the university calendar.
The semester was shortened by two weeks. The exams come after the institution’s academic division began working all round the weekend to ensure that students who did not have exam cards acquired them before exams began on Monday morning.
Last week a majority of students had raised alarm claiming that they might fail to sit for the exams due to lack of proof that they had cleared tuition fees.
On Monday morning a large percentage of the students had received temporary exams cards allowing them to sit for the papers.
“I acquired my card yesterday (Sunday) evening something that was really nice because for once I thought I might fail to sit for the papers something that could have a negative bearing on a my grades as I am expecting to graduate at the end of the year,” said Catherine Ouma a student.
The university is expected to close early in order to pave way for the first year students who are expected in the institution in mid-August.
