[Photo: daystar.ac.ke]Maseno University has been closed indefinitely. This follows protests by students in the institution over the ongoing training of IEBC officials in the university.According to a memo from the Institution's vice-chancellor Julius Nyabundi, the students were ordered to leave the university premises latest by Thursday, October 19 at 8.00am.Nyabundi explained that the decision was to allow the students to participate in the upcoming October 26 fresh presidential poll. However, reports indicate the move was reached after a section of students engaged police in running battles for the better part of Wednesday as the students demanded the training of IEBC staff be stopped.More attacks on IEBC officials during the trainings were reported earlier in Kisumu county. The opposition team Nasa has maintained that there will be no election on October 26 and vowed to ensure the exercise doesn't take place in their perceived strongholds.
