With the rising cases of cheating in examinations, especially in higher learning institutions, Maseno University has launched a campaign against the vice.
As the learners sit for their end of semester exams, several banners with anti-cheating messages and slogans had been hanged all over the university.
One of the banners at the university's main gate read: "It is very easy to excel in your exams bila mwakenya. Exams irregularity is unfair to my standard as a student. Do not cheat, stay faithful and truthful to yourself in the exam period. Be confident, flexible and smart in attacking questions. Avoid being involved in exam irregularities. Exams ni rahisi bila mwaks."
Consequences of being involved in irregularities have also been highlighted in the banners, including suspension.
An officer who is a staff at the university's Academic wing, who asked for anonymity, revealed that a number of students get suspended every year due to exams malpractices.
"We've seen many students getting suspended because of cases of exams cheating, something which is so unfortunate and bad for the students, their families, the university and the society at large."
The aim of the campaign and the banners is to impart self confidence and assurance to the learners as well as making them aware of the consequences.
