The incident which took place at around 9pm, left Collins Aluda traumatised and fearing for the state of security in the institution, with insecurity cases on the rise in the recent past.

“Those guys were armed and there is no way I could argue with them. They were carrying ‘pangas’ and other weapons and I could not risk putting my life in danger,” said Aluda.

Similar cases have been reported in the recent past with many students losing valuables while others sustaining serious injuries in the hands of armed robbers.

This last incident comes barely a month after a first year female student was allegedly raped a day after she joined the university.

The institution has experienced a series of three strikes and demonstrations by students over claims of insecurity in a period of two academic years.

Students have urged the school administration to work hand in hand with the police to provide security to students who reside outside the University, since they are exposed to such risks.
