A middle-aged woman has been arrested in Maseno market over possession of over 100 litres of illicit brew.

Police intelligence from the locals, commonly known as the “nyumba kumi” initiative, linked the illicit brew to the woman.

The woman, who runs a food kiosk and a cinema hall, is claimed to be using it to mask her activities.

She denied being in possession of the contrabands, but officers who forced their way in found over 100 litres of illicit brew in jerrycans. She tried to flee but the police officers were swift enough for her.

She wastaken to Maseno police station.

“This woman has been a threat to our children, we no longer see our sons because of this brew. We congratulate the police for the move and we are hoping to see more results,” said Joyce Wamboi, a resident of Maseno.

Erick Langat, the OCS, thanked the locals for their assistance in the successful operation.

“Let’s work together as one in curbing this vice and save our county. Anyone found selling this illicit brew, stern legal action will be taken against you,” said Langat.
