The fire which broke out on Monday afternoon in Mashimoni village has left the affected families in dilemma after their properties were reduced to ashes.
Moses Akunda said he was left with the clothes he was putting on after the rest of his property was burnt in the fire.
"I arrived from work to find everything burnt. I do not know what to do. I am confused. I don’t know who to blame. This fire has made my life hard. I just relocated here from Karanja and I was sure since the houses here are cheaper, I could save for the future," lamented Akunda.
Regin Mbasha wants the cause of the fire investigated and preventive measures taken to avoid such incidents in future.
"We are struggling to build our houses. We are trying hard to make ends meet. Living here it is not our choice. We want to save the little money we have, only to lose all our property through a fire that can be avoided,’’ Mbasha said.
Abanus Kimuyu suspects the fire could have been caused by either a stove or gas cylinder.
He urged his fellow residents to be careful so that the cases cannot be witnessed again.
