Speaking at Masimba town, area MCA Joash Orora said funds are ready, and therefore students should apply to benefit from the County Funds kitty.

“I call upon College and University students to apply for county bursaries and deliver their applications to Masimba ward offices. This is a subsidy to the students’ fee as one way of boosting education standards in the ward,” noted Orora.

However, residents have called upon equal and fair allocation of funds, saying there should be maximum transparency.

“We ask the MCA to ensure there is fairness in allocating of the bursaries and ensure only deserving cases are catered for,” said Joseph Abuga one of the area residents.

During last year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations, Governor James Ongwae said his government had allocated Sh3 million to each ward among the forty five Wards making up Kisii County, an increment from the initial Sh1 million in the last financial year to boost education standards in the County.
