On Friday, while speaking at the market the traders said they have been operating in a market without toilets and clean water.

"We pay daily taxes to the County government but efforts to have toilets constructed and clean water in the market have not succeeded because the county has been giving false promises," said a trader Ann Mabuka.

She said cartels at the market took over a constructed pit latrine at Masimba Market and changed it to a store.

"The leadership of the County government failed to take action against the cartels who changed the pit latrine to a store despite the numerous complains we raised. We are worried who will take seriously the welfare of the traders and improve the market," she added.

The traders appealed to governor James Ongwae to intervene and order the toilets be constructed in the market.
