A middle-aged man was on Wednesday handed a two-year jail term after he was found guilty of breaking into a neighbour’s homestead and making away with property worth thousands of shillings.

Dominic Kyalo, 27, was arraigned before the Kithimani law court and accused of stealing from a house belonging to Andrew Mwambia in Katambasye village in Masinga sub-county.

The prosecution noted that Kyalo allegedly broke into a residential home while the owners were away, after which he made away with property worth of Sh31,000.

The accused is said to have conducted the crime incident on April 19, 2015, during which he broke and made away with a mobile phone and several items.

He pleaded guilty to the charges, and was handed the two-year imprisonment sentence by the court.

Principal magistrate Davis Karani convicted the accused of burglary and theft, which is against the law of Kenya.

He warned the young people against engaging in unlawful acts however minute they seem, warning that they would face the full force of law.
