Wednesday marked a big relieve for the residents of Masinga Constituency in Machakos County after the company that supplies water in the region launched a digital system of paying their bills.
Kitui Water and Sanitation Company (KITWASCO) yesterday launched the first of a kind bill payment system in Masinga constituency and Kitui County. Nthuku Mutiso the managing director of the company presided over the launch of SMS Bill inquiry, and MPESA pay bill system and SMS billing systems.
The chairman of KITWASCO Joseph Simba who was also present during the launch stated that the issue of late bills and long queues were now a thing of the past.
Speaking to Masinga residents in Masinga market yesterday evening after the launch of the event held in Kitui town during the morning hours of the same day, the area based officer of the company Jacob Mutua explained that the programme was aimed at improving customer service.
“It is the first system in lower Eastern and we have launched it because we consider you our customer as a priority. It will not be necessary to queue at the post offices to pay your bills or even consult on the monthly arrears. The services are available through your mobile phones.” Said Mutua
The residents during the forum had several complaints stating that they had been facing frequent shortage of water. Mutua however assured them that the problem was being tackled by the management.
“We ask you to be patient because the number of population we are supplying water to have increased and the supply systems are in the process of expansion. That is the reason the rationing programme has been taking two weeks but the management is working on the problem.” he added
Finally the residents were asked to report any cases of water theft to the management.
