Masinga Traffic Base Commander Muraya Mwangi has advised bodaboda riders in the sub-county to get licenses and permits for their business.

This, he says, is before they are kicked out in a planned crackdown.

The OCPD notes that most bodaboda riders operating within the sub-county have no licenses. Muraya has also directed the operators to adhere to traffic regulations.

Speaking to news reporters at Ekalakala Trading Centre on Friday, Muraya said most of the bodaboda riders in the area do not adhere to the road regulations.

He added that the result has been an increasing in road accidents.

“The number of accidents being reported are alarming and out of ignorance on the part of some operators,” he said.

He said the cases are attributed to ignorance of the traffic regulations by some bodaboda operators.

Muraya noted that in the past one month the sub-county has recorded seven cases of accidents warning that a major crackdown on rogue bodaboda operators will be done soon.

“We are focused restoring order and sanity back to our roads,” he said.

The commander also advised bodaboda riders to enrol for refresher courses and improve their skills.

He said that the county traffic department has organised workshops to sensitise the operators of road safety.
