Masira said the county government is facing challenges in road expansion due to encroachment on public land.

"The roads in this town are in a mess because some people have encroached on public land meant for road reserves thus making it difficult for the county government to expand roads," he said.

Masira further urged the county government to side aside a place for parking of matatus that ply the Nyamira-Kisii route which he said inconvenience pedestrians at the main stage in Nyamira County.

"I think it is high time for the county government sought an appropriate place to be used  for parking by the public service vehicles because we cannot continue watching as our people die due to road accidents," added Masira.

He spoke Thursday at Nyamira General Hospital grounds during a groundbreaking ceremony of an 80-bed capacity maternity wing, a doctors plaza and an emergency theater unit.

Governor John Nyagarama led other county officials during the groundbreaking ceremony.
