AFC Leopards coach Robert Matano has once again blamed his players after the team failed to record a win on Sunday.
The team settled for a 1-1 draw against FOSA Juniors of Madagascar in a Confederation of African Football (CAF) clash played at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega county.
According to the tactician, while addressing the press after the clash, his boys lacked the morale to take the opponent head-on, leading to bad results.
He bashed his squad for failing to contain the opponent, despite being home, leading to the team conceding an easy goal.
''Our players were very low from the first minute of the game, unlike the opponent. We also conceded an easy goal as our defenders did a poor job in clearing the balls. As a result, the opponent made good use of dead-balls,'' said the coach.
''Most of our players were also nervous having never participated in an international encounter and this was another challenge,'' added Matano.
Leopards goal came on the 3rd minute courtesy of defender Yussuf Maingi with the visitors leveling 12 minutes later through Rado Mbolasoa.
Despite the result being a blow to Leopards' chances of making it to the first round of the continental competition, Matano expressed certainty of recording a win in the return leg.
''I have identified our mistakes and I know what I will do to rectify them,'' he said.
