AFC Leopards head coach Robert Matano has said he will prolong his stay at the Den “to make Ingwe great again”.

Insisting that he does not run away from challenges, Matano dismissed transfer rumours linking him to Tusker FC and said he was going nowhere.

“It is a personal decision out of a strong conviction that AFC Leopards is on the verge of a great era. I have to stay on to oversee a turnaround, which has begun with us winning the GOtv Cup,” he said as reported by the Standard.

“I want to re-assure Ingwe faithfuls and everyone connected with this great club that I am here to stay, to continue with this great project,” he added.

However, the tactician said he will not allow anyone else to control the proceedings during the transfer window.

“AFC Leopards is not a Parliament where you must have representation from all over the country. Those calling me and anyone with the notion that I would sign players based on name and representation should desist from the practice.

“The current squad is already a foundation upon which we will build a competitive unit. Let nobody think we shall dismantle this team. These players are very committed, but there is always room for all the players to show more of what they are made of,” Matano insisted.

“We will not have massive recruitment, but only go for players who the technical bench believe will fit into our vision."
