Robert Matano started his career at Tusker FC with a bang, after registering a 1-0 victory against Wazito FC on Wednesday.
Tusker were the only winners of the midweek matches, with defending champions Gor Mahia blowing a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against Chemelil Sugar.
Matano took over at the club after a short stint with AFC Leopards, where he was fired in early February.
Tusker was rooted at the bottom of the table before Matano was hired and immediately improved to position 13 after the win.
The brewers had suffered an indifferent season and sacked Coach Sam Timbe after a poor start, which included last week’s loss to Bandari in Mombasa.
The 11-time winners will be hoping to kick-start a season that had stalled under Ugandan tactician, Sam Timbe. In other results of the week, AFC Leopards had to come from behind to register a 1-1 draw against Kariobangi Sharks.
Defending champions Gor Mahia were forced to settle for a pulsating 2-2 draw against Chemelil, but still remain at the top of the league with 26 points but have 2 matches at hand.
