Joseph Chege who is a conductor of a Matatu which plies the Carissa road was on his way to the car wash at around 10pm when he was attacked by the suspected bandits and hit on the head with a blunt object hence succumbing to injuries

According to his driver Zachary Kimani, they completed their day’s work and he gave him the vehicle to take it to the car wash only to be called later in the night to be informed that his conductor had been killed.

He said that the conductor was a good man and he did not see any reason for the gunmen to killing the man.

“I left him the vehicle at around 10pm to go to the carwash in Biafra. I was even shocked to hear that he has been killed. He was a very good man and very free with people. I wonder who might have had issues with him,” Mr Kimani said.

Thika deputy OCPD Mrs Mary Kiarie said that they have launched investigations into the killing warning that they will make arrests when they have concrete ideas of the murder. She however asked the area residents to share their problems with some people to make sure a solution is got before it escalates to murders.

The body of the deceased was taken to General Kago Funeral Home while the Matatu was towed to the Thika police station.
