Samuel Muiruri Ng’ang’a, the Matatu driver, allegedly narrated to the police that they were headed for Githurai area when some of the passengers turned out to be thugs and diverted it to Huruma where the robbery took place.

“I was driving to Githurai when some passengers suddenly took control of the vehicle and commanded the passengers to surrender what they had. Others came and moved me from the steering wheel,” Muiruri added.

Following the incident, Issack Thuranira, Ruiru sub-county OCPD condemned the act of the carjackers assuring the residents that the perpetrators will be brought to books.

According to Thuranira, it is not clear why the driver took long to report to the police since the time when the incident took place.

“The driver is in our custody until a further investigation is done. He took long to report the incident and it raises eyebrows as to why he reported late,” Thuranira said.
