Matatu operators in Nakuru town have urged the government and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to intensify their operation against corrupt police officers.
Michael Njoroge, a driver with Free Area Transport Sacco said for the last two months, they have been operating well until recently when three police officers came to the road again with the aim of harassing them.
“The police officers are back and they harass us even if the vehicle is in good condition. They just ask for bribes openly,” he said.
They said that despite the arrests two months ago, there are still others who continue harassing them and calling for bribes even if the vehicles are in good condition.
The operators say the corrupt law enforcers are coming back slowly to the highway after eight others were arrested two months ago.
