Matatu operators in Mwanza, Eldoret want the Uasin Gishu County government to intervene after their stage was taken by a private developer.
Led by their leader Samuel Mbugua, the operators said that they found the stage which is next to the developer's plot fenced on Monday.
"We are more than 500 people who rely on this stage and we cannot allow one individual to hold us to ransom," said Mbugua.
He added, "We are telling the old man to stick to his plot of land and leave the county land to us as more than 60 vehicles which use this stage pay levy to the county government," added Mbugua.
However, the developer, Jackson Kibor, denied the allegations while accusing the operators of hampering the day to day operations in his plot.
"The matatu people have turned my plot to be a stage; this is a road there is no stage here," Kibor said.
He added that he had the permission to fence his plot from the county government.
"The county government told me to fence my property and that is what I exactly did. This is not a stage or a roundabout as they have turned it to be", he said.
County government officials could not be reached for comment.
