Matatu operators in Kisii have lamented over the habit of traffic officers indulging in corruption.
The operators have pointed out traffic officers deployed along the Kisii - Migori road, saying they are still corrupt despite the campaigns by the EACC on same issues.
Motorists plying the Kisii - Migori road have also claimed that the traffic police officers in Kisii are corrupt and they normally ask for bribes openly.
Speaking at Gesonso petrol station, Amos Okondo, a matatu driver along the Kisii - Rongo - Migori said that the officers have the tendency of engaging themselves in corruption scandals despite the continuous campaigns from the concerned authorities.
"The officers are the most corrupt. Once I ferry passengers from town and find them on the roads, they usually ask for some cash even if my matatu meets all the requirements. Why should we pay revenue, repair our matatus and later we be asked to give bribes? The officers should top the habit or we protest to the Kisii County Commissioner's office to give our grievances," said Okondo.
"The police officers are paid monthly salaries and therefore, they should stop asking us the money we get hardly on the roads which are full of pot holes," he added.
The motorists using this road have now threatened to protest to the county commissioner's office to give complains on the rogue traffic police officers.
