The Polytechnic students paralysed transport activities along Langas-Eldoret Road on Monday afternoon, demanding that action be taken against a matatu which hit a student Friday night and sped away.

David Kariuki, the owner of the bus, said the school should compensate him for the damages.

He claimed the students were targeting Langas Sacco vehicles.

“I am very amazed by the way students behaved today. Why should they target other peoples’ cars away from the one they have problem with,” he said.

Kariuki will proceed to court if the school will not act immediately in meeting the cost to repair his car.

Rita Tanui, a student, said it is difficult to cross the road to the school gate for the students living in Langas Estate due to lack of bumps and a zebra crossing sign.

“Last year, some of our students were also hit by the same vehicles plying the route just near our gate. We need the bumps to be erected at the road and a zebra crossing be drawn in order to avoid such incidences,” Tanui said.
