The Matatu Owners Association (MOA) chairman Simon Kimutai has supported calls for the introduction of the Bus Rapid Transit system.
Kimutai said time has come to initiate the programme that will see traffic jam reduce in major cities in the country.
He noted that the programme has been tried and worked in various countries.
“This will be a relieve to most Kenyans who are always stuck in traffic everyday,” said Kimutai.
He said the system will change the manner in which public transport works in the country.
The system works through the provision of dedicated lanes with bus ways in the median of the roadway, Pre-boarding fare collection and frequent and fast operations.
“We are working closely with stakeholders in the sector in the view of its success in the country,” said Kimutai.
He was addressing journalists on Thursday evening during the Association's Annual National Governing Council meeting at Enashipai Resort in Naivasha.
