Matatu Owners have been urged to ensure that their vehicles comply with the 'Michuki laws' before putting them on the road.
According to the National vice chairman of Matatu Owners Association Steve Murunga, this will help to reduce frequent road accidents being witnessed.
"Matatu Owners should ensure that their vehicles are fitted with seat belts, un tempered with speed governors and ensure that their driver and conductors put on uniforms this will help avert accidents witnessed on a daily basis," he said.
Speaking during a road safety awareness forum organised by Isuzu, Invesco and Matatu Owners Association on Wednesday at Sirikwa Hotel Eldoret town, Murunga said, through them belonging to a Sacco it will be easy for them to address road safety issues.
"We are saddened by the increasing number of accidents involving matatu claiming many innocent lives, that's why we are carryout out this awareness programme, and will do it in the 47 counties," he said.
He urged matatu owners drivers, and conductors to comply with the law by belonging to Sacco's as a means of reducing accidents that has been the order of the day.
"I call upon passengers to act as our watchdog by reporting any public service vehicles violating the traffic rules and stern actions will be taken against the Sacco," he said.
