The campaign is also intended to make the crew have discipline to help reduce road accidents in the area.
Addressing Journalists at the Sacco’s offices on Monday in Nakuru town, Sita Matatu Sacco Chairman Benjamin Mwangi announced that the initiative would include training the Sacco’s Matatu crew members on important roads safety measures and laws that govern the general roads and transport sector in the country.
He also that the campaign would include publishing and distributing leaflets to members of the public and other Matatu crews in Nakuru town containing the general traffic rules, laws and regulations to help them understand and practice them to mitigate road accidents among other matters concerning public transport.
“This initiative is not a publicity gimmick, but an objective responsibility by our Sacco. We realised that we can play a big role in shaping a good roads safety culture in Nakuru and that is why we are embarking on this campaign, said Mwangi.
Mwangi appealed to the crew members and members of the public to realise the importance of the campaign and participate in it for the sake of safety on roads.
