Three matatus were on Sunday nabbed in Kakamega town following a crackdown on Public Service Vehicles filming adult content.
The crackdown initiated by officials from the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) was carried out following a tip-off that some matatu operators in the Western town were showing porn while in operation.
The matatus nabbed are those plying the Kisumu-Kakamega route.
KFCB Western region chief Lameck Omingo told journalists in Kakamega town the crackdown will be rolled out to other neighbouring towns.
"We are serious on this, when we say matatu operators screen content whose filming does not breach the law, we mean it. The owners of the vehicles confiscated have a case to answer and we will not stop at that," Omingo said.
In December 2017, KFCB Chief Executive Officer Ezekiel Mutua said his KFCB will step up war against PSV owners who, contrary to te law have continued screening adult content in public vehicles.
He said the operators usually do not mind whether children are in the vehicles or not.
Drivers of the three vehicles nabbed in Kakamega town are still being pursued by police as they managed to escape.
Omingo said the towns of Bungoma, Busia, Mumias and Kisumu are also in the KFCB's radar.
