Mathare United goal Keeper Wycliffe Odhiambo Kasaya is back in training, after spending more than three months out of action.

The veteran goal keeper was nursing a knee injury. Kasaya has been out since September 2017.

“It feels good to be back. It has not been easy with the surgery and the recovery. It has taken a lot of sacrifice to reach here. I had to train throughout the Christmas holidays so that I would be ready to join the rest in January. I thank God for this far I have come,” Kasaya is quoted by Mathare United’s website -mathareunitedfc.co.ke.

“I will be ready to play in two to three weeks. We have a target as a team but personally I will be fighting to be in the first 11 or the first 18. I want to play more matches than last season,” he added.

The goalkeeper has a lot of experience in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) after featuring for the now defunct Red Berets, Bandari FC, Gor Mahia, Sony Sugar and AFC Leopards.

He is expected to lead a youthful department that has young keepers Mark Kioko and Job Ochieng.

Mathare United will open the 2018 KPL season against debutants Vihiga United next month.
